Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that Rob Lowe’s wife, Sheryl Berkoff, taught her some life lessons when she was just a teenager, including about sex. Paltrow said that Berkoff taught her the art of oral sex.
Paltrow, who sat down for a chat on Lowe’s podcast “Literally With Rob Lowe” on Thursday, opened up about her friendship with Berkoff, who was a makeup artist and was working with her mother, Blythe Danner, for a television movie in Florida at the time.
Recalling her first meeting with Berkoff, the “Iron Man” star, who was 15 or 16 years old at the time, said she was "immediately obsessed” with the makeup artist as she was dating Keanu Reeves, who was Paltrow’s celebrity crush. Paltrow also revealed that Berkoff taught her “all the classic Sheryl stuff,” including how to perform oral sex.
“And she was so cool,” the 47-year-old actress said of Lowe’s wife, 59. “She knew that I was sneaking cigarettes, and she would come smoke with me behind the trailer. And, she taught me how to give a blow job, and you know, all the classic Sheryl stuff. And I just worshipped her. I thought she was literally the coolest chick of all time.”
While Paltrow didn’t get into the specifics of Berkoff’s lesson, the actress said she appreciated being treated like an adult and “someone who is sexual” at the time.
Berkoff started dating Lowe after she broke up with Reeves, and they have been married since 1991.
During her chat with Lowe, Paltrow also spoke about working with husband Brad Falchuk and how she keeps her children, Apple, 16, and Moses, 14, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, away from the limelight.
“I won’t let them be public on any social media or anything like that. I try to keep them out of the public eye as much as possible,” she said about her children.
Paltrow also revealed that her daughter is “so bright and so funny” and that Moses is “so unique” and “really talented—like scarily talented.”
As for working with Falchuk on the show “The Politician,” Paltrow said she loved to be around him as “he’s so smart and he’s so soothing and he just, like, gets me so well.”
However, the Goop founder admitted that acting wasn’t her “favorite thing to do” as she now finds it difficult to remember lines.
“I don’t know what it is,” Paltrow, who has received numerous accolades for her work, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe, said. “I feel embarrassed and I, like, can’t remember lines anymore…. I used to be able to read a scene one time in the hair and makeup chair and know it perfectly. And now, I struggle so much.”
