July 6 is celebrated as National Fried Chicken Day and numerous restaurants offer deals and specials to celebrate this holiday. You might just like making your own fried chicken at home, but those find it more exciting to go to a fast-food joint or a famous restaurant.

KFC may be the first and obvious thought in the minds of many. But if you feel like something else, here are some places to consider.

Blue Store, Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Blue Store is famous for its crunchy and spicy fried chicken wings. If you haven't already tried it, then Thursday might be the day to start. National Fried Chicken Day would be the occasion.

Raising Cane’s, Louisiana: If you are an avid chicken lover but you have a strict budget, you should visit this place. They are famous for their flaky and moist chicken strips, served with buttered toast, fries and coleslaw that makes it the quite the place to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day.

Lucille's, Houston, Texas: This locally-owned restaurant is famous for its specialty in Southern cuisine. To celebrate the holiday, they are offering a $30 per person family-style dinner, which includes their well-known dish, a bucket of “Yardbird” along with four different sides. The offer will be valid through Thursday and Friday. For prior reservations you can call 713-568-2505.

Chef Point Café, Fort Worth, Texas: They serve fried chicken with roast potatoes and fries. Their menu boasts of the chicken as “Better Than Sex Fried Chicken,” which is priced at $20. According to Star Telegram, this restaurant offers some of the crunchiest chicken, molded in secret sauces and spices.

Island Grill, Houston, Texas: This restaurant is famous for its fried chicken honey biscuit, which is only available in the breakfast menu on regular days. However, it will be available for the entire day Thursday for customers to celebrate, what for many fried chicken lovers, is a special holiday.

Taste n See Chicken and Waffles, Fort Worth, Texas: This restaurant offers a variety of chicken and waffles. Tender chicken strips as well as fried chicken on the bone are available. It is located in south Fort Worth and is quite economical. It may well be worth a try on National Fried Chicken Day.

Harold's Restaurant Bar and Terrace, Texas: According to ABC 13 News, Harold's offers the signature fried chicken by Chef Antoine Ware. The fried chicken is “dipped in his secret brine and battered in what he calls the 3-2-1 (3 parts corn flour, 2 parts cornmeal and 1 part flour).” It is said to be a perfect blend of crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Wings of Glory, Louisiana: This restaurant offers all the chicken lovers a wide variety of fried chicken, starting from chicken tenders to fried chicken sandwiches. Apart from chicken, they also have fried shrimp, quesadillas and cheeseburgers on their menu.

Pax Americana, Texas: Also famous for their honey butter chicken biscuit, this is one of the best places to visit Thursday. It will offer the special dish for dinner on July 6, although usually it is only available on their Sunday brunch menu.

Fried chicken from Kevin Gillespie’s Decatur restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia is also a favorite among visitors, according to Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Of course, chicken is not just available and well liked exclusively in the southern states.

Hill Country Chicken, New York City: This restaurant offers home-style cooked chicken, which is also worth a try on July 6.

Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles, Los Angeles: This establishment has been serving fried chicken and waffles since 1975 and become a famous late-night spot for visitors. According to MSN, even former President Barack Obama made a stop at this restaurant during a visit to Los Angeles.
