'Hart Of Dixie' Cancellation: Rachel Bilson Says The CW Axing The Show 'Had Nothing To Do' With Her Or Her Pregnancy
Rachel Bilson, who until recently was the star of CW's "Hart of Dixie," took a moment to clear up rumors surrounding the show's cancellation. The network announced that the series would be coming to an end after just four seasons in May. Many believed Bilson had been the reason for the show getting the ax, however, it seems that may not be the case.
According to E! News the former CW actress posted a photo on Instagram, reminiscing on her days spent on the set. In the caption she assured heartbroken fans of "Hart of Dixie" that neither she nor her pregnancy were the catalyst in the network's decision. Bilson wrote that she "loved playing Zoe Hart" and thanked all the dedicated fans who tuned into the show week after week. [Click HERE to see the Instagram photo.]
The CW announced on May 7 that "Hart of Dixie" would not be returning for a 5th Season. The news came after several months of uncertainty caused by cast member's social media accounts. In October 2014 Wilson Bethel, who played Bilson's character's love interest on the show, tweeted a thank you to his character Wade Kinsella "for these four wonderful years." That tweet and other posts from stars like Scott Porter, who played George Tucker on the show, lead many to believe the end was near.
No proper reason was ever given as to why the CW decided to yank "Hart of Dixie." It is believed, however, that ratings played a role.
