Harvey Weinstein is facing a new sexual assault lawsuit from an actress who claims that he sexually assaulted her over the span of nine years.
The accuser filed the Manhattan federal suit under the pseudonym Jane Doe on Friday, Page Six reported. In the lawsuit, she said she met the convicted rapist at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007 when she was 22 years old and an aspiring actress.
Weinstein told her to meet him and his assistant in a Majestic Hotel suite to discuss her career. The three of them had a discussion, but the assistant later left the room. the Hollywood mogul then started to sexually assault her, the woman stated in her suit.
"Weinstein … clutched Plaintiff and tried to force her into massaging him. When Plaintiff refused to massage him, Weinstein continued to grope Plaintiff and tried to take off her clothes," the lawsuit said.
The woman was able to run out of the room before he could rape her. However, Weinstein continued to invite her to meet up with him during the film festival, and she agreed to do so two more times.
Their third meeting was at an evening party attended by people in the film industry. The woman said Weinstein brought her back to his hotel room after the gathering and raped her.
"After Plaintiff and Weinstein met with various people in their hotel suites, Weinstein brought Plaintiff back to his hotel suite. Weinstein then used his considerable size and strength advantage to pin Plaintiff down and rape her," the suit said.
The Jane Doe complaint said that Weinstein repeatedly sexually assaulted the woman in several incidents over the next nine years.
The aspiring actress said in the suit that in 2009, Weinstein flew her and her mom to Sundance Film Festival. He demanded to have a threesome with him and another woman. She refused and left the festival, Variety reported.
After the incident, she was frozen out of film events, and talent agents stopped returning her calls. She did not communicate with Weinstein again until three years later.
The woman said she met with Weinstein in 2012, and he sexually assaulted her again. He also attempted to sexually assault her at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014, but she was able to escape. The last assault happened in January 2016 in a hotel in Los Angeles.
The woman is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages.
Weinstein was convicted in February of rape and sexual assault and was sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment. However, there are still separate rape and sexual assault charges against him pending in Los Angeles.
