Has A Former 'Game Of Thrones' Actor Confirmed A Popular Fan Theory?

His character won't be a part of Season 8 of "Game of Thrones," but Tom Hopper has his own theories for how the hit show will come to an end.

Hopper, who took over the role of the ill-fated Dickon Tarly in Season 7, recently spoke to Be.Yahoo, where he revealed that he firmly believes a popular fan theory about one major character's fate will prove to be true when the show comes to an end on HBO.

"I think Jaime (Nikolas Coster-Waldau) is probably going to end up killing Cersei (Lena Headey)," he revealed.

Hopper's theory is one that has been swarming amongst the fan circles for a long while on the show, ever since the Season 5 premiere, when a younger Cersei received a prophecy for her future from Maggy the Frog (Jodhi May).

On the series, fans saw Cersei learn that she wouldn't marry the Prince, but the king, which she did after Robert Baratheon's (Mark Addy) successful rebelli9on. The prophecy also stated that she would have three children and he would have 20. In addition, her three children would all die, with the dire warning "gold their crowns and gold their shrouds."

While that part of the prophecy has all proven to be true, there was another part which has yet to feature on the show, but did appear in the books. There, the theory continued that one day a "valonqar," or High Valyrian for "little brother," would eventually choke her to death.

Since then, fans have theorized about just who the "valonqar" would be that could kill Cersei, since it seems likely it could happen since the rest of the theory has proven to be true. While Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is often considered a possibility as well as Cersei's literal little brother, most fans have followed a popular theory that her twin, Jaime, who is technically younger, would be the one to do it.

Previously, it seemed unlikely that Jaime would ever turn on his sister, with whom he remained loyal to. However, in the Season 7 finale, he finally walked away from his sister after learning she had lied about sending forces North to help in the battle against the army of the dead. Now, it seems more likely he could in fact do what fans believe.

Coster-Waldau has been asked about the theory in the past, and wouldn't reveal if it was true or not, though he has said he thinks it is a "great" possibility.

Of course, other characters have also since been theorized as the Valonqar as well. Those have included Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), who has become a bona-fide assassin on the show, and could be the one to commit the crime by wearing the face of someone else she murders, and The Hound (Rory McCann), who is also a literal little brother. The theory regarding him would be that he faces off against his own brother, The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) in a trial by combat against Cersei. Fans believe that The Hound would defeat his brother, which would sentence Cersei to death.

Season 8 of "Game of Thrones" does not have a current premiere date.
