HawthoRNe Cancelled Amid Rumors of an Affair Between Jada Pinkett Smith and Marc Anthony

TNT announced Friday it would not be renewing HawthoRNe for a fourth season, just over a week after reports surfaced that costars Jada Pinkett Smith and Marc Anthony might be having an affair.

TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of 'HawthoRNe,' TNT confirmed to E! News in a statement Friday. TNT truly appreciates the tremendous dedication of everyone involved in 'HawthoRNe.' The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show's talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with 'HawthoRNe' nothing but the best.

On Aug. 23, In Touch magazine reported that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were separating after 13 years of marriage. The couple relucantly issued a statement denying the rumors, but speculation persisted -- in large part due to the measured language of the public denial.

Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false, the statement read. Our marriage is intact.

The next day, In Touch published a story speculating that recently single Marc Anthony, Pinkett Smith's HawthoRNe co-star, might have been to be blame for Will and Jada's alleged marriage troubles.

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Marc Anthony in July, and while the actress never specifically cited infidelity as a cause, she has insinuated it could have been an issue, and has not denied rumors of an affair her husband had with a flight attendant earlier in the marriage.

An insider reportedly told In Touch that Smith was increasingly suspicious of the apparent chemistry between Anthony and his wife, and made a surprise visit to a home where Pinkett Smith was staying this summer. He allegedly found Anthony there and left in tears.

Anthony called the allegations of an affair with Pinkett Smith laughable in an interview on ABC's Nightline.

The same day the report of the alleged affair was published, Will and Jada were spotted having bruch together in Malibu. The couple did not shy away from the cameras, and appeared relaxed and happy in photos that were released by paparazzi. Some have been skeptical of the timing of the public appearance, wondering if it could have been staged.

HawthoRNe was not a huge success with critics or audiences, and E! News reported that the ratings had dropped significantly between the second and third seasons.
