'Hobbs & Shaw': The Rock's Net Worth Is This Much Higher Than Jason Statham's
"Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw," out Friday, revolves around Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham) as they have to join forces to protect humanity. The comparing and contrasting of the characters in the movie may also inspire fans to do the same with the leading men in real life. Who has the higher net worth, Jason Statham or The Rock?
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Jason Statham has a net worth of $70 million. Before entering his acting career, the British-born actor originally pursued a career in diving. In fact, he was even part of Britain's National Diving Squad for 12 years. In 1998, an agent spotted him, and the rest is history. To date, his films have grossed over $1 billion worldwide at the box office.
On top of that varied background, Statham also did a bit of modeling for the clothing line French Connection, where he was eventually spotted by Guy Richie and placed in the films "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" (1998) and "Snatch" (2000).
On the other hand, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has an even more impressive net worth, coming in at $220 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Upon entering college at the University of Miami, Johnson began playing football and was a member of the Hurricane team that would go on to win the national championship. Eventually, he lost his place on the team due to injuries.
Following graduation, he went on to play for the Calgary Stampeders, which is a team in the Canadian Football League. This also came to a premature end when he was cut during the early stages of his first season. These two sports setbacks led Johnson to follow the lead of his father and grandfather, who were both professional wrestlers, and go that route instead.
That decision led him to the WWF, which is where he stayed from 1996 to 2004. In 2001, while still wrestling, he also made his acting debut, and in 2002 he landed his first leading role in "The Scorpion King." That of course was followed by many other movies. Then, in 2004 he transitioned into the job full-time. Additionally, the actor wrote his autobiography in 2000, titled "The Rock Says," which debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list.
Moviegoers who are planning on going to see the action flick this weekend will want to stick around after the credits, as Johnson himself confirmed on Twitter that there is a post-credits scene worth waiting for.
According to the star, the scene will tease what's coming up next.
