Holiday Shopping 2011: Toys R Us, Macy's Open 24 Hours Until Christmas Eve
Toys R Us and Macy's will keep many of their stores open 24 hours a day in the lead-up to Christmas, giving last-minute shoppers a savior for their tardiness.
The megalith toy store will keep all of its locations open 112 hours straight nationwide, up until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve starting Tuesday morning.
For the second consecutive year, our stores will remain open continuously during the days leading up to Christmas, allowing shoppers more time and more ways to shop with Toys R Us than ever before, Chief Marketing Officer Greg Ahearn said in a statement.
The store will also offer savings and special discounts throughout the week.
Macy's department store will also remain open continuously at 14 locations, including its crown jewel Herald Square location in New York City, from Wednesday for 83 hours until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
The extended hours are not new for either retailer, but reflect a newfound aggressive stance as companies fear that shoppers are cutting back on holiday spending due to a sour economy. Still, the National Retail Foundation boosted its holiday forecast for this year, expecting a 3.8 percent rise in sales this year.
