“Our officers responded with the Fire Department to a hotel in our city on a report of a person in need of medical aid. The person was determined to be deceased. While still under investigation, the death is not considered suspicious at this time,” the statement read.
Heard’s most memorable role was in the “Home Alone” films in the 1990s, where he gave life to the character of Peter McCallister. But prior to landing the patriarch role, Heard first started acting in the 1970s in both films and the stage.
Following his death, his friends and co-stars from the industry paid tribute to him via their respective social media accounts. Jeff Bridges revealed that Heard was such a good actor, and they worked together in “Cutter’s Way.” James Woods expressed his sadness over the news of Heard’s death and said that he will miss him.
Daniel Stern, who also starred in “Home Alone,” penned a lengthy tribute for Heard on Saturday, July 22. “Too bad his theater performances are gone with the wind because he was riveting on stage. But nothing was more intense than John’s performance in life. He lived it hard, fast and fearlessly. He was a romantic and a raconteur. He was as loyal and generous as they come. He was a friend and a brother and a legend in his time,” he wrote (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly came up with a list of all of Heard’s roles on both the big and small screens. Other than “Home Alone,” he also starred in “Big,” “The Sopranos,” “The Pelican Brief,” “C.H.U.D.,” “Snake Eyes,” “Beaches,” “After Hours” and “Cat People.”
