Honey Boo Boo, Pumpkin Ditching Mama June For New Reality Show? Why Fans Think So

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s latest social media update sparked rumors that she and her sister Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson could be getting their own reality series without their controversial mom, Mama June Shannon.

The 22-year-old reality star took to Instagram Thursday to share a series of snaps featuring her and her 25-year-old husband Josh Efird with their talent manager Gina Rodriguez and Pineapple Express CEO Shawn Credle.

The couple drove for 31 hours to meet with Credle and visit his cannabis-centered business, which Pumpkin called the “best dispensary in California” in her caption.

Josh shared a similar post on his Instagram, and it prompted Credle to leave a comment for him and his family.

“You and your family are always welcomed! Thanks for coming to support, my brother,” Credle wrote.

Josh then responded saying they will “most definitely” come back to the store on Sunday.

Though the couple’s posts focused on their experience with the Pineapple Express CEO, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but talk about Rodriguez’s appearance in the photos.

Rodriguez used to be Mama June’s talent manager. The controversial matriarch dropped a bombshell after the premiere of “Mama June: Road to Redemption” Season 6 when she revealed that she was no longer working with Rodriguez after five seasons.

But Rodriguez is still the manager of Pumpkin, Josh, Honey Boo Boo, Mama June’s other daughter Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon and Pumpkin’s eldest child Ella Grace Efird. She is also the manager of Mama June’s sister, Joanne “Doe Doe” Shannon, as stated on her agency’s website.

Due to Rodriguez’s involvement in the family’s career, fans speculated that Pumpkin and Josh might have driven all the way to California from Georgia to renegotiate something.

“They are in California to meet with production about getting their own show,” one fan commented on Pumpkin’s post.

“I hope they do get their own show! I think they are a wonderful little family who has stuck together through all of Mama’s craziness. Pumpkin and Josh are wise beyond their years,” added another.

“Josh and Pumpkin are great, they should have a show without June in it. She treats her kids terribly. So sad,” a different user wrote.

Interestingly, fans could be getting what they’ve been asking for since The Blast recently leaked on Twitter that Alana could be “setting herself up for a new reality show.” The tweet did not reveal other details about it.

However, the outlet ran a story on its website, citing an anonymous insider for The Sun, that Honey Boo Boo and Pumpkin are determined to have their own reality show and are meeting with a top shot later this month. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

The sixth installment in the “Road to Redemption” series is still ongoing. On the show, Mama June’s daughters appear to be determined to keep their distance from her following a series of setbacks.

Last month, Mama June officially lost custody of her youngest daughter, Honey Boo Boo. A judge granted Pumpkin, who raised her 16-year-old sister after Mama June abandoned them in March 2019, sole custody of the teen.
