Meghan Markle and Prince Harry initially planned to have a relaxing getaway with Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. However, the couple was criticized for using private jets to travel around Europe on vacation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously spoke about the importance of preserving the environment, but their recent trips made the couple appear hypocritical. One royal expert believes Meghan and Prince Harry are responsible for the damage to their public image.

During an appearance on SkyNews, Rob Jobson claimed the couple’s actions are to blame for the decline in their popularity. “We’re talking about Meghan and Harry in particular, it’s about what they are doing, and what they are saying,” he said.

“This morning, they’ve posted on their Instagram account about doing a little bit of good, and the people came straight back saying, ‘stop jumping into private jets.’ It’s about leaving yourself exposed,” he added.

Even though the couple has shared their concerns about the environment, they reportedly used a private jet to celebrate Meghan’s birthday in Ibiza. They later came under fire when they boarded another private jet to travel to Nice, France for another vacation.

On Monday, Elton John posted a series of tweets defending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip by insisting the “flight was carbon neutral,” and the private jet gave the couple an extra level of protection. Despite his explanation, Jobson claimed Meghan and Prince Harry’s behavior is unacceptable.

“They’ve got their little baby, they are very protective of the child, they don’t want people taking pictures on their mobile phones. This was offered to them, and they took it,” he said.

“But when you’re then collecting awards in Australia, not that long ago, saying your dad is an environmental champion and talking like that, you’ve got to be careful about lecturing people. They don’t like it, particularly on climate change, for some reason, people just don’t like being told, do as I say, not as I do,” he explained.

Despite the backlash Meghan and Prince Harry received over their recent trip, the couple has remained mum about the allegedly damaging carbon footprint they have left on the environment.
