How Much Money Does The ‘This Is Us’ Cast Make? Salaries Reportedly Skyrocket
The “This Is Us” cast is making more money in Season 3. The actors negotiated some hefty raises ahead of returning for the third chapter of the NBC drama.
The core cast members, who play the Pearson family, will reportedly be paid $250,000 per episode, which adds up to $4.5 million for the 18-episode season. Not only are Milo Ventimiglia (Jack), Mandy Moore (Rebecca), Sterling K. Brown (Randall), Chrissy Metz (Kate) and Justin Hartley (Kevin) raking in a quarter million per episode, according to the Hollywood Reporter, but they now have equal pay.
In the show’s first season, Ventimiglia and Moore earned $85,000 per episode while Brown pulled in $75,000. Hartley and Metz each got $40,000 per episode, Variety reported in 2017. THR claims the difference was even more drastic, with Ventimiglia raking in $115,000 per episode. All the stars have more than doubled their salary since they started on the show in 2016.
While the child actors on “This Is Us” don’t make nearly as much, they’ve negotiated raises since starting as well. TMZ reported last year that Mackenzie Hancsicsak, who plays 10-year-old Kate, earned just over $8,000 per episode in the first season, $12,500 in the second and is set to earn $13,000 in Season 3, which premieres Tuesday.
“This Is Us” certainly has the money to pay its stars top dollar. Last year, the NBC tearjerker was ranked the priciest scripted show on broadcast for advertisers. Companies typically paid $394,428 for a 30-second commercial during the Tuesday night broadcasts, according to Ad Age. Those ads were seen by the 11.13 million viewers tuning in each week on average.
Even more viewers are expected to tune in for the Season 3 premiere Tuesday night. “This Is Us” left off with a cliffhanger last season when it flashed forward to reveal Randall’s daughter as an adult. She was encouraging her father to see someone, but he said he just wasn’t ready. Viewers will figure out who he was referring to sometime later this season. Meanwhile, the drama is also set to show the beginning of Jack and Rebecca’s romance as well as Jack’s time in the Vietnam war.
“This Is Us” Season 3 premieres Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
