‘This Is Us’ Season 3 Spoilers: Premiere Synopsis, Video And Photos Revealed
After an excruciatingly long hiatus, “This Is Us” Season 3 is almost here! NBC’s tearjerker drama returns Tuesday, but we already know a little about what’s to come in the premiere.
It looks like the loglines will still be short and sweet in Season 3. “Randall (Sterling K. Brown), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) find themselves on new paths as they each celebrate their 38th birthday,” the episode 1 synopsis teases.
Starting on the shared birthday is a tradition for the NBC drama. The twins, Randall and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) share their date of birth, but it looks like they’ll be celebrating in different places.
Kate and Toby (Chris Sullivan) will celebrate at their home on the west coast. The trailer for Season 3 made it clear that Kate has one birthday wish this year: a baby. After miscarrying last year, she’ll see a fertility specialist, but the doctor might not have the answers she is looking for.
Meanwhile, Randall will be celebrating in New Jersey with his family. Deja (Lyric Ross) is still around, but that doesn’t mean her guardians have just forgotten about her attacking Randall’s car at Kate’s wedding. Photos show Beth and Randall in a waiting room, so it seems like they might be getting some professional help for her.
Kevin seems to be working on his birthday. “This is Us” Season 3 premiere photos show him apparently at a press junket for his Vietnam War movie, titled “Hill 400.”
Don’t worry about the blonde interviewing him. As previously reported, Kevin will be hooking up with Beth’s cousin Zoe (Melanie Liburd), much to Beth’s (Susan Kelechi Watson) dismay.
Elsewhere, “This Is Us” will take viewers back to the beginning of Jack and Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) epic romance. They’ll go on their first date to a carnival, and cash-strapped Jack will find a way to make it work.
However, it wouldn’t be “This Is Us” without a twist. Moore told Entertainment Weekly that fans will be shocked by a major event in the first episode. “It’s not heartwarming. People are going to be like, ‘Whaaa…? Why? How? What?’” she laughed. “At least I was, and I knew that it was coming, but still, when you read it, you’re like, ‘No. Whaaa…?’ so that’s pretty interesting. I think Dan has talked a lot about figuring out who [Randall] is talking about. I think that every episode is offering a more fully realized picture of who that is. It’s not being dragged for the sake of being cheeky.”
“This Is Us” Season 3 premieres Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
