How The Press Harassed Kate Middleton, Forced ‘Furious’ Prince William To React

Prince William was furious when the paparazzi harassed Kate Middleton.

According to the 2011 documentary “Chasing the Royals,” the Duchess of Cambridge was once involved in a frightening moment with the paparazzi that really angered Prince William. On Middleton’s birthday in 2007, about 30 paparazzi gathered outside her Chelsea flat to get pictures and ask her for a statement regarding Prince William’s proposal rumors.

Middleton was on her way to her car when the incident happened. Some lenses were reportedly thrust less than a foot from her face and others blocked her car.

“An angry Prince William issued a statement to the press, to stop harassing his girlfriend,” the narrator said of the royal prince’s reaction after hearing what happened.

Shortly after the incident, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge moved to a remote corner of Wales. Also, a palace spokesman issued a statement about the harassment toward Middleton.

“Prince William is very unhappy at the paparazzi harassment of his girlfriend,” the spokesman said, adding that Prince Harry’s brother wanted it to stop as it’s already proving unbearable for all concerned.

“Miss Middleton should, like any other private individual, be able to go about her everyday business without this kind of intrusion,” the spokesman said.

Prince Harry experienced the same thing with girlfriend Meghan Markle. The former “Suits” actress was also subjected to “racial undertones” and outright sexism and racism attacks from online trolls when her romance with the royal prince was publicized. The Duke of Sussex couldn’t take it anymore that he issued a statement asking the media to stop driving stories about his then girlfriend.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship leaked to the public, Prince Harry reportedly issued a statement that he canceled his flight to Toronto and was still in the U.K. However, photographers and reporters still came to Markle’s home. At the time, Prince Harry was already in Canada and he and Markle hid at her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s plush residence.

In related news, prior to Markle’s arrival, Prince Harry was reportedly “bitter” and “lonely” when Prince William and Middleton decided to move to Norfolk. The three royals were very close and Prince Harry felt that he lost his partners in crime when they moved out of the palace.

At the moment, the fab four is rumored to be feuding and Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly splitting their shared household in the coming weeks.
