How The Season 25 ‘DWTS’ Teams Are Preparing For Week 2
The pressure is truly on for the teams competing on Season 25 of “Dancing With the Stars,” as they all are returning for what is sure to be a tough week, as two of them will be eliminated before it is over.
For the first time on the ABC dancing competition series, the teams were required to learn not one, but two different routines ahead of Week 2 of competition, which will take place over two nights. Night one, Monday, will be a ballroom night and will feature the first elimination of the season. Then, on Tuesday night, the remaining 12 teams will take to the floor again for Latin dance routines, before yet another pair says goodbye.
With a lot on their plates for week 2, the teams have been hard at work to make sure they can impress with their new routines. Here’s how they spent the weekend rehearsing and hoping they’ll be able to impress:
Team STARK
Currently tied for first place, Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas seemed to put in some serious work during the week as they prepared for both their Quickstep and Salsa. Lindsey shared a series of images to Instagram over the weekend that showed her and Mark hitting the stage and showing off what appeared to be impressive footwork in an energetic routine.
Of course, the two did take some time out of their busy rehearsal schedules the past week to do some celebrating in honor of Stirling’s birthday. In an adorable Instagram post of his own, Mark shared an image of himself messing with her hair as they posed with both a balloon and a bouquet of flowers.
Team Fish Upon A Star
The other team currently tied for first place didn’t share much about their planned routines for the next two nights on social media, though Jordan Fisher did make sure to give his fans a small glimpse at one of his rehearsals with Lindsay Arnold, revealing in the snap that they were practicing for their Viennese Waltz.
Team Babies and Ballroom
Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were dealt a tough blow during rehearsals this week as they prepared for both their Fox Trot and Salsa dances. After a successful first night of competition that saw them landing on the leaderboard ahead of their respective spouses, Maks was forced to share over the weekend that Vanessa had suffered a toe injury during rehearsals.
However, they didn’t seem to let that stop them for very long, with Vanessa also taking to Instagram to share a look at their routine, hinting that it was complex and featured both smoke and multiple other dancers.
Team Smackdown
Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev seemed to be keeping their Waltz under wraps, but both made sure to share practice shots of their Samba for Latin Night. Artem simply shared an image of the two in the studio, where he dips his partner.
Nikki meanwhile, shared a more sultry looking image of the two on stage, dancing with her leg wrapped around Artem and revealing that the dance would be to “Despacito.”
Team ViVa
Victoria Arlen and Valentin Chmerkovskiy seem ready to make things a little more serious when they take to the floor for their Tango on Monday night. Victoria shared a photo from their camera blocking that shows her standing off to the side, as Val sits in a chair looking towards the ground with a forlorn expression on his face.
Team Hoops And Heels
The work hasn’t stopped for Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess, who have both been putting in time to perfect not only a Foxtroy, but a Paso Doble. Sharna made sure to show fans photos of the two taking their Foxtrot to the stage, and hinted that Derek was working on making it great by focusing on the critical components of the dance.
Meanwhile, Derek shared a snapchat video Sharna took of him on his Instagram page where he practiced his Paso footwork, unaware that his coach was watching him the whole time.
Team Mom and Pops
Though they’re currently trailing behind their spouses, Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd are planning to up their sex factor when they take to the floor with a Foxtrot, though they seem to be admitting that they need to be working on keeping that vibe steady. In a photo, Nick teased that he was trying to turn on the charm, but Peta wasn’t responding in the best way.
Peta seemed to back that up with a video of the two rehearsing, where a moment that was supposed to see them smolder ended with big smiles and apparent giggles instead.
Team A Team
Ballroom night appears to be seeing Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko pulling out all the stops for a Viennese Waltz. In a photo on the pro dancer’s Instagram page, he has his partner held in a lift, as dancers with pink feathers move around them.
Team Sonberst
It appears it may have been a tough week for Debbie Gibson and Alan Bersten, if his post encouraging fans to remember and vote is any indication. With an image showing Debbie standing above him on the dance floor, Alan hinted in his caption that they had a rough week, but that he was proud of her so far because she’s been working hard.
Team Hot Property
An injury also seemed to temporarily plague Emma Slater and Drew Scott as they practiced their Quickstep. In a video posted to Instagram, the reigning champ showed the moment she was trying to teach Drew a certain move for the dance—but it didn’t end so well for him.
Team Getcha Popcorn
After a disappointing score in week one, Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke seem focused on staying in the competition, with Cheryl sharing a look at their planned Foxtrot. Terrell didn’t post any updates however.
Team Sharkeo
After finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard during week one, Keo Motsepe and Barbara Corcoran worked hard all week to try and impress the judges better this time around. They also made sure to reminds fans how crucial voting is as well.
Team Franney Pack was the only Season 25 team not to share any updates over the weekend. Whether that’s a sign of Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson keeping everyone in suspense for a routine they’re sure will impress or not is something we won’t learn until show time.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC this week.
