Huge Python Attacks, Coils Around Tiny Deer After Swiftly Leaping Out Of Water [Video]
A python was caught on camera leaping out of a pool and attacking a deer as it drank water with its herd. The incident took place in the western Indian state of Maharashtra recently.
The CCTV footage of the incident shared by forest official Susanta Nanda on Twitter on Thursday showed the herd drinking water from the pool. Suddenly, the python leaps out and attacks the animal, sending it flying in the air. The reptile then coils around the tiny animal before strangulating it in the muddy water. The deer struggles to escape and is eventually swallowed by the python.
“One of the clips from E surveillance Video of Central Chanda Division from Maharashtra. When pythons kill prey, they use a kind of ambush technique by jumping & striking the prey, grabbing it with their teeth in around 50 milliseconds only. [Humans take 200ms to blink an eye],” Nanda wrote.
The video has since gone viral with people finding it astonishing. Some also said they didn’t know pythons were so “swift.”
“Wow, that strike was fast. And I though pythons are lazy creatures,” wrote a user. “I didn’t know pythons could be this swift!!! Phewww,” wrote another.
“Scary yet so astonishing at the natural prowess of such creatures,” wrote another user.
