'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2': Jennifer Lawrence Stands Behind Willow Shields In A New Poster
Lionsgate has unveiled two new posters for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.” The posters have been released in connection with the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in France.
One poster shows star Jennifer Lawrence dressed in fighting armor. She's wearing her hair in a fishnet braid and is standing behind Willow Shields, who is seated on a chair. Jennifer plays the main protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, and Willow plays her younger sister, Primrose.
Willow appears to have a frightened expression on her face and Jennifer seems to be protective of her. The poster, which was shot by Tim Palen, hints at the upcoming trouble in District 13, according to E! Online.
Meanwhile, in the second poster, a full-blown image of a mockingjay can be seen, and it appears to be on fire. The bird -- a cross breed of mockingbirds and jabberjays -- has become the symbol of revolution in the movie. The birds have been associated with Katniss since the first “Hunger Games” film.
The connection between Katniss and Primrose will be a major focus of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2." Katniss will will go on a mission to free the people of Panem and plan an assassination of President Snow. She will be supported by her friends Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).
The cast includes Lawrence, Shields, Hutcherson, Hemsworth, Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Robert Knepper, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and Donald Sutherland. The major shooting took place in Atlanta, France and Germany. Francis Lawrence has directed the film and Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik has written the screenplay. The film is based on the novel with the same title by Suzzanne Collins. This is the last installment in the series.
