Idris Elba As Nelson Mandela In 'Long Walk To Freedom' Teaser Trailer [VIDEO]
The first international trailer for the Nelson Mandela biopic “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” has been released.
The film, starring Idris Elba and directed by Justin Chadwick, follows the story of the former president of South Africa.
“No-one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin. People learn how to hate, they can be taught how to love,” Elba says in the clip. The line -- a passage from Mandela’s autobiography -- is read as the actor is viewed walking up a hill. The movie is primarily based on Mandela’s early years of life in South Africa, covering his journey as he became an international political leader and inspiration, according to the Huffington Post.
The film will be released domestically Nov. 29.
Two new posters for the movie have made their debuts, as well. One depicts Elba as Mandela, and the other shows Naomie Harris as his wife Winnie Mandela.
The 94-year-old Mandela has had a recurring lung infection recently. He has been in the hospital for five weeks and remains in critical condition, BBC News reported.
