Ike Barinholtz Recovers From Neck Injury; Will He Return To ‘Mindy Project’?
“The Mindy Project” star Ike Barinholtz is recovering from a neck injury.
While speaking with People, the funnyman revealed that he broke his neck while doing a dangerous fall stunt for his upcoming film, “The Pact.” Though it has been five weeks since the incident, Barinholtz is still recovering from the impact. More specifically, the actor ended up with two fractured cervical vertebrae on his neck.

“We knew something was wrong right away. It was scary and it was touch and go for a while. Luckily, I’ve had great doctors who have really helped me with my recovery. I do as they tell me. I have to wear an incredibly stylish neck brace for a while as the bone heals. It’s a cool look, especially in the summer,” he joked.
Meanwhile, Barinholtz confirmed that he will still be part of the sixth and final season of “The Mindy Project” even though he’s still in recovery. The actor, who plays the role of nurse Morgan Tookers, shared the conversation he had with lead star Mindy Kaling. “After the accident, I talked to Mindy and we agreed that the only option was writing it into the show. Luckily, on ‘The Mindy Project’ I play a character who could break his neck falling out of his bunk bed and it’s completely believable,” he said.
As of late, the production for the Hulu series is already starting, and Barinholtz even directed an episode of Season 6, according to Entertainment Weekly. The actor joked about having a hard time demanding respect on set since he’s directing with his neck brace on.
“Sometimes it takes getting hurt to realize how lucky you are to have great people in your life. My family has been taking amazing care of me, and Mindy and all the folks at the show have been so kind. Also, many friends have sent lots of food which is great – but I can’t exercise, so in a way, it’s exceptionally cruel,” he joked.
“The Mindy Project” Season 6 will premiere on Hulu on Sept. 12.
