Injured ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy Updates Fans From Hospital Bed
Maksim Chmerkovskiy is down, but not out. The “Dancing With the Stars” pro is on the path toward recovery — or as he’s called it, “gettin’ unbroken” — days after hurting himself in practice.
Maks shared a photo from his hospital bed, revealing that he’d flown to Ohio for treatment. In the photo, he’s wearing a gown with an IV in the back of his hand. The photo suggests he was heading into surgery when he snapped the silly selfie.
The injured “DWTS” pro is in good hands. According to People magazine Dr. William A. Seeds of Seeds Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is performing the surgery. The doctor has a history with “DWTS” pros and has treated Peta Murgatroyd and Artem Chigvintsev.
While Maks went under the knife, Peta sent a sweet message to her future hubby from herself and baby Shai. She snapped a picture of their son, wishing his pro-dancer papa a “speedy recovery.” Peta added that she and the baby were looking forward to Maks’ return.
This is the third such update Maks has shared with fans. On Wednesday, he shared a video of himself wheeling a suitcase while riding on a knee walker. He captioned the clip, set to Chamillionaire’s “Ridin’ Dirty,” “Ah’ll be back.”
According to Peta, Maks suffered tears in his calf muscle while practicing for “DWTS” Week 2. She told Access Hollywood it was a “freak accident.” Peta and Maks remain hopeful he’ll return to the ballroom in Season 24.
“He’s having a surgery done, yeah. But then rehab starts after that. It’s serious in that regard. It’s not just an ice pack situation. He’s a quick healer. He’s going to be fine,” she assured.
In the meantime, Maks’ former “DWTS” partner Heather Morris will continue to compete. She’s now paired with troupe member Alan Bersten and is hard at work on their second routine. The pair made their debut in Week 2 and have something “fun” in store for Week 3.
Catch “DWTS” Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
