Is Instagram Down, Not Working? Multiple Social Media Sites Experiencing Issues
Instagram users were having trouble posting their #WCW posts on Wednesday due to an apparent outage on the app and website. The site wasn't loading for many users and neither was the app causing many users to report an outage to DownDetector and head to Twitter to complain.
The outage came around the same time as a Facebook outage, which is being attributed to possible scheduled maintenance. Users worldwide were reporting outages to DownDetector and the site's outage map showed the most prevalent outages were occurring in the United States and Europe.
"We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible," an Instagram spokesperson told International Business Times. The cause of the outage was unknown around noon on Wednesday.
Users were taking to Twitter to check in on the outage and see if they were alone in experiencing site issues or if others were experiencing difficulties with the app as well.
Other people couldn't help but make jokes about the amount of users flocking to Twitter for the first time in a while just to talk about the outage.
Some users thought Twitter might be the next social media to take a hit though.
The outage seemed to be blocking out stories, feed updates, live video and other features on the app. Users who rely on Instagram and Facebook were a little stressed over the outages Wednesday.
Around 1 p.m. EDT some users were tweeting that they were able to use Instagram again and that their feeds were back up and running.
Instagram had not posted publicly on it's Twitter account about the outage.
