iPhone X Price, Release Date, Face ID, Size Announced At Apple Event
Apple revealed the much-anticipated iPhone X at its new Steve Jobs Theater on Tuesday. The device will feature facial recognition technology (Face ID) and an OLED display.
The 10th anniversary iPhone was revealed alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
“iPhone X is the future of the smartphone..." Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said Tuesday. “iPhone X enables fluid new user experiences — from unlocking your iPhone with Face ID, to playing immersive AR games, to sharing Animoji in Messages — it is the beginning of the next ten years for iPhone.”
iPhone X Features
OLED Display, Size
The iPhone X sports numerous features, many of which had been rumored before its reveal. The device will feature an edge-to-edge new Super Retina Display with OLED technology. The screen will offer a higher contrast and a 2436x1125 resolution, the highest resolution pixel density ever in iPhone.
The device will include a 50 percent stronger glass on the front and back of the device, the “most durable glass on a smartphone ever,” Apple’s Phil Schiller said as he announced the gadgets. Apple's iPhone X features at 5.8-inch display.
Face ID
The iPhone X will ditch the home button and will instead rely on Face ID, which works with Apple Pay and third-party apps. To go to the Home screen, users can swipe up to type in their password or use the Face ID. The feature protects sensitive information with its True Depth camera system that includes an infrared camera that detects your face -- even in the dark. The Face ID feature will rely on the new A11 Bionic neural engine, which is integrated in the iPhone to process face recognition. The feature works even if you wear glasses or change your beard.
Animoji
The iPhone X also includes a new feature: Animoji, which are customized animated emoji. Users will be able to pick from dozens of animated Animoji to express their emotions on iMessage.
Wireless Charging
The iPhone X will also support wireless charging with charging pads, which will be sold separately online and in stores. The iPhone X will last two hours longer than the iPhone 7, Schiller said.
More Features
The iPhone X comes with a vertical-dual camera system, which includes larger and faster sensors. The iPhone X will also include 3D Touch and True Tone, which allows the screen to adapt to the environment it’s in. The iPhone X also support augmented reality capabilities. The device will also feature surgical grade stainless steel, and will be available in Space Gray and Silver.
iPhone X Release Date, Price

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus also feature a glass front and back. The 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus come with a Retina display that offers better color accuracy and a wide cinema quality color, Schiller said.
