‘iZombie’ Renewed For Season 4; Rose McIver, Robert Buckley And Others React
“iZombie” has officially been renewed for Season 4 at The CW. Shortly after the news broke, series stars Rose McIver, Robert Buckley, Rahul Kohli and Malcolm Goodwin took to Twitter and Instagram to address the good news, thanking everyone, especially the fans, for making the season renewal possible. See their social media posts below:
A day before the network renewed the series, executive producer Rob Thomas told Entertainment Weekly that he was optimistic that the show would return for another season. “I’ll say this: I bought a house in L.A. and I’m moving there hoping there will be a Season 4, so no one will be more disappointed than me and my business manager if there is not,” he said at the time. “I am betting a lot that there will be. I feel good. I am confident, and hopefully, that confidence is not misplaced.”

When asked what fans can expect from Season 4, Thomas said: “The season 3 finale is a pretty major reset of the show, so I feel like if I said anything about Season 4, I would be giving away the cool stuff that we want to surprise people with in the finale of Season 3.”
But in a separate interview with TVLine, Thomas did say that the identity of the person who stole Ravi’s (Kohli) remaining doses of zombie cure in Season 3, episode 6 will be revealed early next season. “Liv (McIver) and Ravi are going to begin an investigation into that in the next episode (Season 3, episode 7),” Thomas said. “The plan was to wrap up that investigation in the season finale, but we ran out of space, so it looks like it’s going to get answered early in Season 4.”
The CW renewed the series for another season even though it has dipped quite a bit in ratings. According to Variety, the show’s Season 3 is averaging a 0.3 rating and 905,000 viewers per episode, which is down over 30 percent in both measures from its sophomore run.
“iZombie” is a loose adaptation of the comic book series of the same name created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. In addition to McIver, Buckley, Kohli and Goodwin, the series also stars David Anders and Aly Michalka. Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright, who both developed the series, executive produce the show with Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge. Bonanza Productions Inc., Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television produce the series.
Next week’s episode finds Liv and Clive (Goodwin) trying to solve the murder of a very charming, but womanizing, preschool teacher. Their investigation gets interesting when they bring the victim’s jealous girlfriend Piper (Shenae Grimes) in for questioning. Peyton (Michalka) also gets a very interesting case; and Blaine (Anders) finds himself in a bad situation.
“iZombie” Season 3, episode 7, titled “Dirt Nap Time” airs on Tuesday, May 16 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
