‘Jane The Virgin’ Star Gina Rodriguez Shares Workout Regimen With Her Boyfriend
The couple that works out together, stays together. At least, this is the case for “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez and her boyfriend and fellow actor, Joe LoCicero.
The two love doing Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, and Rodriguez told Entertainment Tonight that her workout skills are all thanks to LoCicero. “He’s taught me everything,” she said.
But LoCicero returned the compliment by saying, “Oh, she learns quick. She pushes me hard.”
Aside from working out, Rodriguez and LoCicero also make it a point to stay healthy by preparing good meals. “Eat clean. Eat well. Everything you put in your body is definitely how your body will respond, so be in tune and eat well,” said Rodriguez.
Whether or not Rodriguez stayed in shape or gained a little weight because of her work schedule, it was LoCicero who taught her how to love her body as is. Rodriguez revealed that her shape actually depends on how much time she works out. It gets depressing for her when she can't fit into certain clothes, but LoCicero is always there to encourage her.
“Before, I would have beaten myself up. But my boyfriend gave me some great advice. He said, ‘Don’t be angry with your body — it changed because your routine shifted.’ And that was like a gift,” she told Shape. “As an actress, there are so many pressures to look a certain way and fit into a sample size. But I’ve got to embrace the fact that when I’m shooting ‘Jane,’ I can’t work out as much. My body is going to look different, and that’s okay. I’m not willing to wring the joy from my life to kill myself in the gym.”
“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 has already started filming, and Rodriguez is actually going to do more than just act this time around - she’s going to direct an episode.
Rodriguez shared this piece of news on her Twitter by posting about an orientation with the Directors Guild of America. She did not say which episode she will be directing, but her fans cannot wait.
“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 will return on Oct. 13. at 9 p.m. EDT.
