Jason Momoa Looked 'Happy' While Filming 'Aquaman 2' Before Lisa Bonet Split: Report

Jason Momoa appeared in good spirits in the months before he and his wife Lisa Bonet announced that they were divorcing, according to a report.

Last week, Momoa and Bonet shocked fans when they announced that they were parting ways after 16 years together.

However, an unnamed source told People that the 42-year-old actor appeared to show no hint that he and Bonet were going through a marital crisis while he was in London filming "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" over the past five months.

Momoa looked as if he was "very chilled" and enjoying himself with friends during the production abroad, the insider said. He was spotted at several local pubs and restaurants with friends during filming downtime.

"It was like he was on a big guys' holiday sort of thing," the insider told People about the actor and his pals during his stint in the U.K. "They were all pretty tight and they were very protective of him as well."

The source added, "He was very chilled. He looked really happy. He was always really happy and chilled. It looked like he just really enjoyed having a good time."

Momoa and Bonet announced their split via a joint statement shared on the actor's Instagram page Wednesday. They began dating in 2005 and later wed in October 2017. They share daughter Lola, 14, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 13.

Some reports have suggested that there were tell-tale signs that their marriage was on the rocks long before their announcement. Momoa and Bonet had not been seen together publicly in nearly two years, and their last red carpet event was in February 2020 at the Tom Ford AW20 Show at Milk Studios, according to Yahoo News.

After that, Momoa attended film premieres solo or with their two children. In September 2021, he came to the "No Time to Die" premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London with Lola and Nakoa-Wolf, the latter of whom twinned with his father with their long curly hair and all-black ensembles.

It was also noted by News.com.au that the last sign of Bonet on Momoa's Instagram page was on International Women's Day in March 2020. He uploaded a photo of the "Angel Heart" star with several other women and wrote, "Happy International Women's Day to all the goddesses in my life." The actress does not have social media.

Bonet also hinted that changes were coming when she interviewed Marisa Tomei for Interview magazine for a Dec. 21, 2021, profile. During their chat, the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" star, 57, asked Bonet what was "calling" her.

"Definitely learning how to be authentically me, learning to be new, and following this invitation from the universe to step into this river of uncertainty," Bonet replied.

At one point during their chat, Bonet also said, "The revolution is definitely here and we're all feeling the squeeze. If you aren't, you're in total denial, and the more you resist, the more you will suffer. Everything is crumbling out there. The personal work is understanding where empire and those archetypes live within us. The revolution is on the inside, and learning to be new in this new world."

Momoa and Bonet also mentioned a "revolution" and "feeling the squeeze" in the joint statement they shared last week to announce their breakup.

"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring," the joint statement read.

"We are parting ways in marriage," the former couple wrote, adding that they decided to share the news "so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty."

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," which also stars Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is set to hit theaters on Dec. 16.
