Jay-Z Proud Of Beyoncé’s ‘Uncomfortable’ ‘Lemonade’ Album Following Cheating Rumors
While many fans hold Beyoncé and Jay-Z on a pedestal, often referring to them as “RelationshipGoals” and “#FamilyGoals,” the “4:44” rapper recently revealed that the couple’s nine-year marriage hasn’t been an easy journey.
During an interview with T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Jay-Z explained that while he was happy for his wife’s success with the immensely popular “Lemonade” album, listening to songs like “Sorry,” Don’t Hurt Yourself” and “Hold Up,” which fueled infidelity rumors, was “very, very uncomfortable.”
The rapper revealed that the couple was forced to acknowledge cheating rumors that have been surrounding their relationship for years and it was not an easy task. “The best place in the, you know, hurricane is like in the middle of it … We were sitting in the eye of that hurricane,” he said.
“But the best place is right in the middle of the pain. And that’s where we were sitting. And it was uncomfortable. And we had a lot of conversations,” the rapper added.
Jay-Z admitted that addressing their troubles through their music has helped the couple fight for their marriage and avoid divorce. “You know. [I was] really proud of the music she made, and she was really proud of the art I released. And, you know, at the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another’s craft. I think she’s amazing,” he said.
“You know, most people walk away, and like divorce rate is like 50 percent or something ’cause most people can’t see themselves. The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.”
Jay-Z went on to admit that some of the troubles he caused in his marriage were due to his upbringing, because he felt the need to be tough.
“You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode what happens? You shut down all emotions. So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect,” he explained
“In my case, like it’s, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity,” he said.
Despite the troubles that have plagued their marriage, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have managed to stay together and keep their family, Blue Ivy, 5, and 5-month-old twins Sir and Rumi, together.
