Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's split has shocked fans and social media users, but it seems some may have already predicted the breakup.
Several outlets reported Friday that Lopez and A-Rod have ended their engagement after four years of dating. They were supposed to tie the knot last year but canceled it due to the pandemic. According to an unnamed insider, however, the two have been on the rocks for a while now and have been living separate lives.
"The last time they had seen each other was March 1. They haven’t seen each other since then," the source told Us Weekly. "There have been issues in their relationship for a while now."
Another anonymous insider told People that the singer-actress and former MLB star had been "on the rocks for almost three months now."
"They've been trying to keep it together for the kids but everyone knew it wasn't going to work. They were going to buy a mega-mansion together and then that didn't happen, once they backed out of the deal all their friends down here [in Miami] knew," the source continued.
Prior to their split, Lopez and Rodriguez admitted that they had been going to couples therapy. The two-time Grammy nominee opened up about it in February with Allure.
"Alex, of all people, was like, ‘I love it. I love being at home. I love doing my Zooms. I love knowing the kids are there, and you’re there all the time,’" Lopez said. "It has been actually really good. We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship."
Meanwhile, another source said Lopez knew marrying Rodriguez "wasn't right," especially after his character was called into question.
"The couple has called off their engagement and have decided their relationship has run its course," the insider told Entertainment Tonight. "Jennifer felt like moving forward to marriage wasn’t right. Recently Alex’s character has been called into question and that didn’t sit right with Jennifer. The couple will always have respect for each other."
Rodriguez was recently linked to Madison LeCroy, who claimed to have been communicating with the former MLB star over the phone. One unnamed insider told Page Six that the reason for their split was Rodriguez's scandal with the "Southern Charm" star, which had "embarrassed" Lopez.
The former New York Yankee previously denied the links to LeCroy, insisting that he doesn't know her. However, the Bravo reality star confirmed that they had been Face-Timing, though she stressed that they were only acquaintances. LeCroy added that they had never met in person and have "never been physical."
"He’s never physically cheated on his fiancée with me," LeCroy told Page Six in February.
