"Jeopardy!" fans have mixed reactions to the most recent episodes of the game show.
Mayim Bialik's hosting has once again drawn criticism from viewers, with some taking to Twitter to call her out over her performance, mistakes and lack of "charisma" as host.
"Is it because the host is so bad that now we get the correct response spelled out for us? Sad state of affairs," one tweeted
"I know I keep saying it, but Mayim Bialik is not a good host of 'Jeopardy!' She’s slow and consistently leaves clues on the board and she has no charisma!" another claimed.
The "Big Bang Theory" alum returned to "Jeopardy!" Season 38 in May after fellow host Ken Jennings' three weeks at the helm and announcement that he was taking a months-long hiatus from the show. The two were tapped to co-host the quiz series on a rotating basis last year following the 2020 death of previous longtime host Alex Trebek and the axing of Trebek's replacement Mike Richards.
But while some were not pleased with Bialik's performance, a number of social media users celebrated when she was announced as the new host last month.
"Thank goodness @missmayim is back. No offense, but she is so much better at hosting," one fan tweeted.
"What a fabulous treat to have @missmayim hosting again. She brings charisma and an easy, natural flow to the game," another user wrote. "So glad to have you back, Mayim!"
Friday's episode of "Jeopardy!" also drew flak from viewers after Megan Wachspress won against Sadie Goldberger, whom some considered to be the rightful winner.
Goldberger appeared to correctly answer the "Final Jeopardy!" clue and win the game. But due to a questionable call by judges, her answer was deemed illegible and Wachspress was announced the winner.
"That was an absolute robbery. Sadie won fair and square. I've seen answers written much messier than that handwriting was, she very obviously had the right answer given. I like Megan, but Sadie WON. And for the love of God, how much longer do I have to endure Mayim?" one fan tweeted.
"Sadie won fair and square. Y'all just wanna keep these winning streaks going. Megan has won by fluke every game. Also, Mayim is not a great choice for [a] host. Way too egotistical and condescending to contestants. We need the class and caliber that Alex brought to the position," another wrote.
Wachspress' winning streak also sparked discussion online. Some felt that her victories were underwhelming, but others were impressed, even dubbing her the "luckiest" winner in the history of the show.
"How [does] the current 'Jeopardy!' champion keep winning by $2? HOW? She's done three times now (one time by $3)," one Twitter user asked.
"Megan, the current champion, is the luckiest multi-game winner in the history of Jeopardy," a second person wrote, as another netizen opined, "Megan is THE luckiest 'Jeopardy!' player I can remember."
"[Megan] lucked her way into the Tournament of Champions," a fourth fan commented.
Wachspress' five wins qualified her for the Tournament of Champions. However, she has only $52,002 in total winnings, less than half as much as any other five-day champion, Yahoo Entertainment reported.
Meanwhile, Bialik just announced in an Instagram video Tuesday that she contracted COVID-19. The host said that the virus has left her feeling "very, very exhausting" and that she's suffering tightness in her chest that "doesn’t feel good at all."
