Jessa Seewald Confirms She Was Rushed To Hospital After Scare During Home Birth At Duggar Family House
Jessa Seewald may be all smiles now after welcoming her first child with husband Ben Seewald, but the former “19 Kids and Counting” had a frightening home birth. The 23-year-old is coming clean about the experience, which resulted in her being rushed to the hospital.
Since first announcing her pregnancy, Jessa has been very vocal about her desire to have an all-natural home birth. However, the new mom ran into some issues when she started to have contractions just a couple days after her Nov. 1 due date. Although Jessa managed to get through 10 hours of contractions to give birth to her son at the Arksansas home of her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, she revealed to People magazine that an abnormal amount of bleeding led to her mom calling 911.
“I tried to keep my head, I was awake and alert,” Jessa told the outlet, adding that everyone in her family “stayed calm.”
According to People, Jessa had to stay overnight in the hospital after having a blood transfusion. Despite initially being separated from her son, she was reunited with him later that night.
While Jessa is just opening up about her home birth, TMZ reported earlier this month that an ambulance was parked outside of the Duggar’s home. The site obtained video footage of the emergency vehicle, and a source said that it was there because of “complications.”
Despite the frightening scare, Jessa and Ben’s son was born at 6:54 p.m. on Nov. 5, weighing 9 lbs. 11 oz. and 21 ½ inches long. The couple, whose pregnancy and journey as new parents will be documented on an upcoming TLC special, have not released the name of their baby.
