John Oliver warned Meghan Markle before she married Prince Harry and his words resurfaced after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In 2018, the "Last Week Tonight" host gave the former "Suits" star a warning before she tied the knot with Prince Harry. Oliver strongly disagreed with the idea of Markle joining the firm and his advice resurfaced and went viral, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Several netizens watched the video again on YouTube and after seeing Prince Harry and Markle's interview with Oprah, they agreed with Oliver.
"Audience laughing, but john oliver's face when he's warning about marrying into the family is dead serious - he wasn't kidding and now we know," one commented.
"He predicted exactly how it will be for Megan," Rohit Shinde added.
"Yeah this was almost Simpson level accuracy after watching Oprah's interview," Ahmed Zayed wrote.
"It’s 2021 after the Oprah interview and boy did that comment about emotional damage age far too well," another user added.
"Seriously John Oliver like a wizard who can see the future, man he got this dead right..I remember watching this interview at that time I thought he was overreacting but boy he got that right," a different netizen wrote.
During the interview, Oliver did not like the idea of Markle marrying a member of the royal family. He even said that it would be "weird."
"I would not blame her if she pulled out of this at the last minute," Oliver said while on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" just months before the royal wedding. "I don't think you need to have just seen the pilot episode of ‘The Crown’ to get a basic sense of, she might be marrying into a family that could cause her some emotional complications."
"They're an emotionally stunted group of fundamentally flawed people doing a very silly, pseudo job. That's what she's marrying into. So I hope she likes it. It's going to be weird for her. I would not marry into the royal family. I'm a commoner. I would not be welcome, especially after what I've just said," he added.
