“Jon & Kate Plus 8” star Jon Gosselin discussed his relationship with his kids, blaming his ex-wife Kate Gosselin for his estrangement with six of his children.
In Us Weekly's sneak peek of his interview on “The Dr. Oz Show,” the father of eight opened up about how life has been for his big family, revealing that his children no longer speak to him and some of their siblings.
Jon said that 20-year-old twins Mady and Cara and four of the sextuplets, Joel, Aaden, Alexis and Leah, 16, stopped communicating with him two years ago. His estranged children, who live with Kate, also no longer talk to their siblings Hannah and Collin, who stay with him and girlfriend Colleen Conrad.
Jon cited “parent alienation and now sibling alienation” as the reason his kids no longer talk to him and two of their siblings and blamed his ex-wife, whom he divorced in 2009.
Jon suggested that Kate may be “intervening” in the children's relationship with each other, although he didn’t mention a possible motivation for this. He claimed that his ex-wife even failed to tell him, Hannah and Collin that she was selling their childhood home in Pennsylvania for $1.2 million.
“She [Hannah] was pretty much upset that that was her childhood home, her mother selling it, didn't even call her to say, 'Hey, do you want any of your stuff or anything? Hey, I need to sell this house.' There is no contact," Jon claimed.
Moreover, Jon underlined the need for his children to talk to each other, adding, “I mean, I’m giving them the outlet of, ‘If you want to talk to the public because you’re public [people], you have every opportunity to do these things.'”
This came a few months after his 16-year-old son Collin wrote a disturbing post on Instagram in which he called Jon a “liar” and accused him of beating him up and thinking “nothing of it.” The former reality star has denied the allegations.
“[H]e punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor. He is a liar,” Collin wrote.
Kate, however, maintained that her ex-husband is a “violent and abusive person,” People reported. Jon fired back and said that she was making false accusations.
