Jonathan Rhys Meyes Joins The Vampire Craze, Sinks Fangs Into NBC’s ‘Dracula’
Move over Robert Pattinson, Alexander Skarsgard and Ian Somerhalder. A new hot vampire is rolling into town - Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
NBC has jumped on the vampire bandwagon and picked up 10 episodes of Dracula, with Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the lead role. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new drama takes place in the 1896 and is about Dracula...who just so happens to be living a double life in London as an American businessman. While the businessman may be interested in bringing modern science to Victorian society, in reality Dracula is trying to exact revenge on those who burdened him centuries ago. And of course the drama will also have a twist of love to soften it up.
In the world of 'Twilight' and 'True Blood' and all the contemporized stories, we thought we would go back to the original, Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt explained to reporters on Tuesday. The book is still really fresh. Hopefully this will be a cool new version of 'Dracula.'
Greenblatt continued that the new NBC series will bring a 'Tudors' sensibility to 'Dracula.' It will be faithful to the period but look to the future.
Dracula will feature producers of PBS' Downton Abbey, reports Entertainment Weekly. No other casting or production details have been released.
NBC seems to be really committing to their new supernatural line up. News of Dracula follows Mockingbird Lane, the networks reboot of The Munsters.
Who would you like to see cast alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Dracula?
