Kaitlin Olson Teases ‘The Mick’ Season 1 Finale, Talks Starring In Two Hit Comedies
The Pemberton kids will be reunited with their dad and mom in Season 1 finale of “The Mick.”
Kaitlin Olson, who plays Mickey on the FOX series, revealed during the 20th Century Fox Television’s panel at Deadline’s second annual Contenders Emmys event on Sunday that the show’s Season 1, episode 17 will see the return of Christopher (Laird Macintosh) and Poodle (Tricia O’Kelley).
Christopher and Poodle are Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia), Chip (Thomas Barbusca) and Ben’s (Jack Stanton) parents who flew out of the country after they were arrested by the FBI for fraud and tax evasion. Christopher and Poodle were last seen in Season 1, episode 1, but were heard over the phone in a couple of episodes after the series premiere.

In Season 1, episode 6, Christopher sent a voicemail to Chip right after the young Pemberton surrendered his phone to the feds.
“Hey, buddy. It’s dad,” Christopher said in his voice message. “I’ve got to make this fast. I’m really sorry we haven’t been in touched, but it’s very dangerous for us to call. Look, I wish I could be there for your lacrosse games. I hope that bonehead coach is giving you the playing time you deserve. Anyway, I need you to be brave for me, son. We don’t know when we can come home, but your mom and I care about you, kids, more than anything. We’ll fix this, Chip. We love you.”
After receiving that voicemail, the feds managed to trace Christopher’s location. So it won’t be surprising if Christopher and Poodle are in FBI’s custody when their kids see them once again in the finale.
Meanwhile, still during the panel, Olson briefly talked about how she managed to star on “The Mick” and on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” at the same time.
“The great thing about ‘Sunny’ is that I’m just acting on it,” said Olson who also serves as a producer on “The Mick.” “So I show up two-and-a-half months out of the year [on the set of the FXX series] and just act, and it’s fun and easy. That’s in the springtime, because it’s on cable, and if we keep getting picked up [on ‘The Mick’], hopefully it’ll be in the fall, so it works out to be a year-round kind of thing.”
In addition to starring on both shows, Olson is also a full-time mom to her two kids. “I had two boys, 18 months apart, and they’re very competitive for my attention,” the actress told New York Magazine in January. “It was really important for me to be there for the first five years of their lives. I only shoot ‘Sunny’ two months of the year, so I was really like a full-time mom.”
An all-new episode of “The Mick” airs on Tuesday, April 11 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on FOX. Check out the synopsis and preview clip for the episode below:
