Kat Von D Wedding To Deadmau5 Will Be 'Underwater-Themed,' 'Furthest Thing From Traditional,' Star Says
Former “LA Ink” star Kat Von D has revealed the details behind her upcoming nuptials with fiancé, Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5.
In a People magazine interview, the well-known tattoo artist said the couple will marry on Aug. 10 in a ceremony that will be “the furthest thing from traditional.” Von D, 31, a reality television star, and Zimmerman, 32, a noted producer and performer of house music, will be married in front of 200 friends and family members.
Von D said the wedding ceremony will be “underwater-themed,” drawing on the couple’s mutual love of H.P. Lovecraft’s, “The Call of Cthulhu,” a short story about a monstrous aquatic creature. Guests will be treated to mermaid performers and blue-and-green food.
Von D's dress, which Deadmau5 is helping design, will fit the theme, too. "It will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients," she said. "I didn't know the dress was supposed to be a surprise."
After a rocky engagement to fellow reality TV star, Jesse James, who is also the ex-husband of actress Sandra Bullock, Von D appears to have found love with Zimmerman. "Being with Joel is the only thing that feels more natural than tattooing," she has said.
Zimmerman echoed her feelings. "Our wedding is merely a celebration of that love and commitment we live in already,” he added.
