Kate Middleton Beats Queen Elizabeth, Meghan Markle; Duchess Named Top Royal Fashion Icon

Kate Middleton has been named the top royal fashion icon after beating Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan Markle.

The Fashion Retail Academy in London made a survey about the royals’ fashion. The results were published on Tatler on Friday. The results showed that 47.8 percent of the people surveyed preferred Middleton’s style compared to her sister-in-law Markle’s. The publication concluded that the Duchess of Cambridge “proved popular across a spread of age demographics.”

“By embracing the fashion world and Princess Diana's often daring style, Kate has learned how to balance trends with tradition, and it's nice to see that she is keeping tradition alive,” Lee Luca, the principal and CEO of the Fashion Retail Academy said (via Insider ).

The majority of the participants aged between 18 to 24 voted for Middleton as the royal with the best style. About 50.67 picked Middleton while only 37.22 chose the former “Suits” star. Also, most of those who are in the 55+ age group chose Middleton over Markle. The latter only received 9.07 vote. Queen Elizabeth II was named the third most influential royal fashion icon.

“Meghan may have commanded more column inches recently but it is Kate who has emerged as the royal leading the fashion stakes by a country mile,” Lucas explained.

“In addition to well-known designers, both duchesses have been seen wearing high street names such as Zara, Topshop, and Marks & Spencer, which immediately makes them more relatable to the British public and their fashion choices more accessible.”

In 2018, Middleton also beat Markle and Queen Elizabeth II as top royal style influencer. According to Rob Hattrell, U.K. vice president of eBay. While Markle was the focus of the fashion pages, it was Middleton’s distinctive style that has long been a hit with shoppers on eBay since she wed Prince William in 2011.

In related news, a few weeks back, Prince Harry and Markle announced that they were stepping back from their royal roles. According to Daniela Elser, Middleton was the biggest loser following the Sussexes’ exit.

She stressed Middleton will always be compared to her sister-in-law. She also predicted that Markle and Prince Harry will be the next global phenomenon and the former “Suits” star will likely eclipse the future queen.
