Kate Middleton has been dubbed the most successful royal in history for a particular reason.

In the Netflix documentary “The Royals,” Middleton became the most popular royal in history the minute she wed Prince William in 2011 because of her Alexander McQueen dress.

“I could confidently say that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, was probably the most successful I have ever seen in the history of the royal family. It was entirely appropriate,” James Sherwood, a royal fashion historian, said.

Sherwood also noted the fact that Middleton’s wedding gown was slightly reminiscent of Grace Kelly’s dress when she became the Princess of Monaco. However, the Duchess of Cambridge’s dress was still more beautiful than Kelly’s. The mom of three’s gown reportedly cost over $16.5 million and has inspired several replicas since the wedding.

Middleton accentuated her look with the exquisite Cartier Halo Tiara, also known as Queen Elizabeth’s Halo Tiara. The headpiece was given to the Her Majesty by her parents on her 18th birthday. The tiara has also been worn by Princess Margaret and Princess Anne.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle also stole the hearts of royal fans with her stunning Givenchy wedding dress designed by Clare Waight Keller. However, royal wedding dress expert Raishma said that Markle’s gown was still nothing compared to Middleton.

“The best royal wedding dress, in my opinion, is Kate Middleton’s. I think the first time we saw Kate’s gown, the entire nation had that breathtaking moment that seemed to be missing with Meghan’s,” she told Express.
