Kate Middleton, Prince William Are Queen Elizabeth, Public’s First Choice As Heirs
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly wants Kate Middleton and Prince William to take over the throne after her instead of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Earlier this year, Middleton was appointed as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. A source revealed that everyone found Middleton “utterly majestic” and “every inch the monarch-in-waiting” with her elegance and poise. The Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly groomed for years to take over the crown with Prince William as her king and that is about to happen soon.
“The Queen isn’t the only one who wants Kate and William on those thrones – they’re the public’s first choice, too,” an insider told Woman’s Day.
“Charles must constantly feel like he’s losing grip on his successorship, but it’s actually been in the works for some time and it’s likely he’ll have no choice but to accept it.”
A poll from YouGov in November 2017 also showed that the people preferred the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge over the Prince and Princess of Wales. Fifty-six percent favored Prince William while only 13 percent chose Prince Charles as the next king. On the other hand, 63 percent wanted Middleton to be the next queen while only eight percent supported Camilla.
However, according to Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward, the Queen doesn’t have the power to decide who will reign after her. Also, the public’s opinion won’t matter because the line of succession is not a popularity race. The heir is determined by their descendants and the Queen’s eldest son, Prince Charles, is the next in line to the throne.
The source added that Middleton has upped her dedication in the last few months and it has paid off. The Queen and Duchess of Cambridge had their first joint royal engagement in March in seven years.
In related news, Prince William and Middleton’s Pakistan tour was considered a huge success. Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said that the couple “aced their relatable tour of Pakistan.” She was convinced that the future king and queen might receive a congratulatory letter from the Queen.
