Kate Middleton's style has once again sparked an internet search frenzy.
The Duchess of Cambridge attended the premiere of Tom Cruise's "Top Gun: Maverick" in London Thursday with her husband, Prince William.
Middleton walked the red carpet in a stunning off-the-shoulder gown by designer Roland Mouret that she paired with Prada pointed-toe pumps and a jewel-encrusted Alexander McQueen box clutch, People reported. She also ditched her signature blow-dry curls for sleek, straight hair.
Within 24 hours after the movie premiere, searches for the term "Bardot dress" spiked by 263%, according to Love the Sales. The demand for "black-and-white dresses" also increased during this period, the outlet noted.
The term "Bardot" refers to an off-the-shoulder neckline with sleeves. The style was made popular by French actress and fashion icon Brigitte Bardot, thus the name.
Queen Máxima of the Netherlands wore an almost identical jumpsuit version of Middleton's dress in 2017, according to People.
Back in 2020, the duchess also proved that the "Kate Effect" is in full swing after a chic floral face mask she wore to a royal outing caused an internet search frenzy.
Lyst, a data aggregator, reported that the searches for "floral face masks" increased by 185% less than a day after Middleton was spotted sporting one during a visit to Baby Basics, a U.K. charity that acts as a food bank for baby supplies like diapers and food for families in need.
Middleton's cloth mask from Amaia also sold out quickly after photos of the duchess sporting one were released.
"No one has more pressure on them when it comes to what they wear than Kate Middleton," style expert Andrea Levin said of the attention on the duchess' style. "She is the future queen after all. Yet, she pulls it off easily. She always looks perfectly tailored, she always looks elegant and appropriate. It always looks like there's a sense of purpose and forethought into everything she wears."
During Thursday's "Maverick" premiere, Middleton and Prince William met not only Cruise but also the actor's co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller.
Cruise was seen offering his hand to Middleton as she climbed a few stairs at London's Leicester Square.
Prince William and Middleton were reportedly treated to a special screening of the "Top Gun" sequel at the invitation of Cruise, who had heard William was a fan of the original 1986 movie.
"We have a lot in common," Cruise said of the royal at the premiere, according to My London. "We both love England and we're both aviators, we both love flying."
"Top Gun: Maverick" hits theaters Friday.
