Prince William added a notable accessory to his ensemble when he graced the 2018 BAFTAs with wife Kate Middleton.

Middleton donned a forest green gown by her favorite designer Jenny Packham. On the other hand, Prince William sported a black tuxedo and accessorized his getup with thick black-framed glasses. After photos of Prince William surfaced online, fans were quick to share their two cents on his look, with many wondering why he wore glasses.

"WHAT ARE PRINCE WILLIAM’S GLASSES? #BAFTAs," Faye C White asked.

Just like White, other netizens also wondered when Prince William started wearing glasses. Meanwhile, another user believes that Prince William's specs are trendy.

However, this is not the first time that Prince William has worn glasses. In 2016, Prince William and Middleton attended Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday. During the event, the Duke of Cambridge sported cool glasses similar to what he wore at the BAFTAs. In 2015, Prince William and the monarch were photographed having a chat, and the prince also sported eyewear.

In 2013, Middleton's other half was also spotted with a pair of "uncool glasses." At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a Christmas lunch hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. Middleton looked stunning in her holiday-ready red dress. Unfortunately, Prince William's glasses had him looking dressed-down.

According to Vision Express, Prince William loves Oakley's sporty wraparound sunglasses, which blend performance with style. Middleton's husband reportedly prefers a minimal look with simple metal-rimmed rectangular frames. This design is usually for individuals with a laidback and smart look. It's best for everyday wear and formal events.

The minimal style that Prince William prefers suits his smart style and gives him a fashion-forward edge. Its textured metal brow bar is sleek and modern, giving the user a defined look to the face.

In related news, Prince William and Middleton will be attending another event together on Wednesday in Sunderland. The couple will officially open the music and art hub at The Fire Station. After that, they will visit Northern Spire, an ambitious and striking new bridge over the River Wear.

After the engagement, Middleton will visit St. Thomas' Hospital to launch the Nursing Now 2020 Campaign. The movement aims to raise the profile and status of nursing worldwide.

The Duchess will also visit the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) to learn about the college's global health programs that aim to bring the best in women's health care.
