Kate Upton Accuses Guess Co-Founder Paul Marciano Of Sexual, Emotional Abuse
Kate Upton recently accused Paul Marciano, the co-founder of Guess, of sexual and emotional abuse.
The supermodel expressed her disappointment over Guess’ decision to continue to work with Marciano even though he has allegedly sexually and emotionally abused her. The 25-year-old did not detail a specific incident with Marciano, but Upton used to be the face of the brand.
On her Twitter account, Upton also used the MeToo hashtag to show support for the movement. She also briefly mentioned Marciano’s alleged misconduct on her Instagram account and that the co-founder should not be allowed to use his power to continue to hurt women.
A day later, Marciano released a statement to TMZ and said that there is no truth to Upton’s claims. “If she has a claim, there’s one place to tell the truth and that’s in court or to the police,” he said. Marciano also said that he thinks Upton is upset with him and Guess after they cut ties with her after arriving on set “looking terrible.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez previously spoke positively about Marciano. The two worked together in Guess’ latest jeans campaign. Last month, she revealed that Marciano personally asked her to be the model of Guess.
“When I got a call from Paul Marciano asking me to become the new Guess Girl, I was thrilled and excited to be a part of such an iconic brand that I have loved since I was a teenager,” she told InStyle.
Marciano also gushed over Lopez and said that the “World of Dance” judge is a Guess Girl’s dream. “She is an accomplished artist, she is iconic and sensual. Jennifer’s impact and influence continues to grow and this campaign celebrates the notion that women get more beautiful and talented as they gain life experience,” he said.
But after learning about Upton’s claims against Marciano, Lopez released a statement and said that she does not condone acts of sexual harassment, violation, or misconduct. “My position on these issues is well known, as I have been very vocal about them,” she said.
