Kate Winslet Wedding To Ned Rock'nRoll Kept Secret From Star's Parents

Kate Winslet's wedding earlier this month to Ned Rock'nRoll, the nephew of business magnate Richard Branson, didn't come as a shock only to her fans. The wedding was reportedly so secret that Winslet's parents were also kept in the dark when the Oscar-winning actress walked down the aisle for the third time.

According to the Press Association, the 37-year-old actress was married to Rock'nroll, 34, in a ceremony so private that the bride and group only invited six friends each. The couple was married in a converted barn in New York with Winslet's close friend and "Titanic" co-star Leonardo DiCaprio standing in for her father, as he walked her down the aisle.

"I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned Rock'nRoll in NY earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family," Winslet's rep, Sara Keene, told People. "The couple had been engaged since the summer."

Although not much is known about Winslet and Rock'nroll's relationship, the couple are believed to have met through Richard Branson in August when Winslet vacationed at Branson's Caribbean home in Necker Island. Rock'nroll, whose birth name was Abel Smith before he had it legally changed, works for the space-travel division of Branson's company, Virgin Galactic.

According to the Daily Mail, Winslet was dating Burberry model Louis Dowler at the time, before she reportedly dumped him for Rock'nroll. And Dowler apparently wasn't too pleased about how Winslet handled the situation.

"Kate came home with me to Cornwall and we just hung out together. She met my parents and family," Dowler told the British tabloid, after the couple's August breakup. "I thought we were inseparable. I certainly haven't found anyone else since. I don't want to go into details but it wasn't a straightforward break-up. I'm a laid-back guy, so I am not walking around with a long face - but I do still hold a torch for her."

"I don't think Kate behaved well and it is still very raw for me. I was in love with her and you can't switch that off overnight. I'm not sure Kate treated me well."

Rock'nroll was previously married for two years to Eliza Pearson, a British heiress. Winslet has previously been married twice. Her first marriage, to Jim Threapleton, ended in 2001 after three years. In 2010, she divorced "American Beauty" and "Skyfall" director Sam Mendes, after seven years together. Winslet has a daughter and a son from each marriage, respectively.
