Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom Had An Awkward Reunion At Friend’s Birthday Party

Despite previous reports claiming singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom are still on good terms despite ending their romance in late February, the two were recently seen having an awkward reunion at a friend’s birthday bash.

Just last Saturday night, Perry and Bloom attended jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer’s 40th birthday celebration in West Hollywood, California. The former couple obviously went to the party separately, but they bump into each other while socializing with other guests of the star-studded bash.

The meeting between the exes appeared to be unpleasant since they were spotted saying a few words before parting ways and spent the rest of the night with different circles. “At the party, Orlando and Katy had a quick hello and a brief chat,” an insider told People. “They weren’t too friendly and hung out with separate friends at the party.”

It’s a bit surprising that the two had an awkward situation at the event. After all, Bloom recently told ELLE U.K. that they are still friends. “We’re friends. It’s good. We’re all grown-up … It’s better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don’t have to be about hate.”

This is the first public sighting of the former couple following their split. A source previously told People that the breakup was inevitable since the relationship “became more and more work to make it work” for the “Chained to the Rhythm” singer.

Their reps also confirmed at the time that the singer-songwriter and the Hollywood actor had called it quits. “Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.”

Following the split, Bloom was seen spending time with his son Flynn Christopher and vacationing — just like the time when he was seen swimming in St. Barts with Australian model Kristy Hinze and other friends. As for Perry, she’s been making waves with her music and her cropped ’do.

Meanwhile, many other stars made an appearance at Meyer’s party aside from Perry and Bloom. Sara Foster, Courtney Cox, Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Dakota Johnson and Nicole Richie also showed up at the Peppermint Club. Celebrity couples Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux as well as Jessica Alba and Cash Warren were also spotted at the event by E! News.
