Kevin Spacey Removed From ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ Anniversary Special
It is not only Netflix that dropped Kevin Spacey in light of his sexual harassment allegations. This time around, even CBS cut ties with the actor and removed him from the 50th anniversary special of “The Carol Burnett Show.”
A representative from the network confirmed with Variety that the special, which will air on Dec. 3, will not include Spacey’s performance. The “House of Cards” star taped the special back in October in Los Angeles, in which he performed a number with Carol Burnett, Kristin Chenoweth, and Bernadette Peters.
Spacey was first accused by “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp of sexual harassment dating back to 1986. After, several members of the “House of Cards” crew came forward and accused Spacey of making their work environment toxic because of his “predatory” behavior.
A former production assistant told CNN that Spacey sexually assaulted him during one of the show’s early seasons. The employee claimed that Spacey put his hands down his pants without consent while he was driving the actor to the set. Later, Spacey cornered him and touched him inappropriately.
The others shared their own harrowing experiences, but requested for anonymity out of fear of professional repercussions. One crew member even said that Spacey “would put his hands on me in weird ways,” including massaging his shoulders and touching his stomach.
The others accused Spacey of nonconsensual touching, and they said that the actor was fond of making crude comments towards production staffers who were typically young and male.
Several other men have also come forward with their own sexual harassment stories, and because of this, Spacey decided to check in to a sex addicts rehab.
According to the Daily Mail, Spacey arrived at the $36,000 a month rehab centre in the Arizona desert last week. Spacey “is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment,” his representatives said in a statement.
The rehab center, which claims to have the best sex addiction treatment program in the U.S., will offer Spacey a wide range of classes which include horse riding, yoga, tai chi, and “mindfulness meditation.”
