Khloe Kardashian Called Off 9-Month Engagement To Tristan Thompson After His Paternity Scandal: Report

Khloe Kardashian was engaged to Tristan Thompson before she learned that he fathered a child with another woman late last year, a report has claimed.

Kardashian revealed on Thursday's episode of "The Kardashians" that she did not accept Thompson's proposal due to the lingering concerns about his infidelity.

An anonymous insider told People that Thompson initially asked her to marry him in December 2019.

But the source claimed that Thompson proposed for a second time in February 2021, and this time, Kardashian said yes. They were secretly engaged for nine months. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

While they were engaged, the pair planned to conceive a second child together. They welcomed their now-4-year-old daughter, True, in April 2018, on the heels of Thompson's cheating scandal.

Kardashian and Thompson successfully conceived their second child via surrogate in the final weeks of 2021. However, at about the same time, news that Thompson had fathered a baby with another woman, Maralee Nichols, made headlines.

In her paternity lawsuit against the NBA player, Nichols claimed that she and Thompson had sex on his 30th birthday, when he and Kardashian were still together. Nichols welcomed a baby boy in December last year.

At that point, Kardashian called off her secret engagement to the athlete, according to People.

Thompson initially denied that he was the father of the baby, but a paternity test later confirmed that he is. He made the announcement via his Instagram Stories in January and apologized to Kardashian.

"Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols," Thompson wrote in his statement. "I sincerely apologize to everyone I've hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately."

In a subsequent post, he tagged Khloe and wrote, "You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry."

Kardashian and Thompson welcomed their second baby, a boy, in August. The Good American founder said she let the athlete meet the infant at the hospital.

"I've been on the fence about letting Tristan come to the hospital or not, but Tristan wants to be here so I just figured, why not let him come? I'll never get this moment back," she said on their family's reality series.
