Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery: Chauffeur Michael Madar Released Without Charges In Case
In the latest development in Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery case, French police released three people — including the reality television star’s chauffeur — without charges, reports said Wednesday. Michael Madar, the chauffeur, was one of the 17 people arrested over the heist, in which robbers stole estimated $11 million worth of jewelry belonging to Kardashian.
Investigators are still interrogating Madar’s brother in the incident that took place last October, according to reports. The French probe is looking into whether the robbers were tipped off about Kardashian’s bodyguard not being present at the hotel residence at the time of the robbery.
The 36-year-old Kardashian and a night watchman who witnessed the incident reportedly told police the masked robbers were "of a certain age."
"We would expect the people who carried out a job like this to be criminals with a certain degree of experience. They would need the connections to be able to dispose of the jewels once they had got their hands on them," a police source told the BBC.
The other arrests included a 72-year-old gangster and three women. They were reportedly taken into the custody after DNA was taken from a diamond-studded pendant dropped by a member of the gang.
Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint when she was in the French capital to attend Paris Fashion Week. She was reportedly gagged and locked in the bathroom of her apartment during the heist while the robbers looted jewelry. Her bodyguard was reportedly looking after her sisters Kourtney and Kendall at a nightclub at the time of the incident.
