Kim Kardashian couldn’t be more proud as she announced Kanye West and GAP’s partnership on Twitter.
Kardashian’s husband has sealed the deal with GAP, bringing the fashion brand Yeezy to the American clothing and accessories retailer company. The new line of apparel named Yeezy Gap was reportedly intended to cater to men, women and kids.
Many were excited over West’s Yeezy and GAP partnership including his wife, who proudly announced on Twitter how proud she was of her husband. Kardashian said, in her tweet, that it was a dream come true for West and people would love the product of this collaboration.
West has influenced Kardashian’s fashion style and the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star admitted in 2018 that her husband would email her some fashion advice, People reported.
It only made sense that West continuously provide fashion recommendations to his wife because he had a whole lot of experience working for a clothing line.
“From working at the GAP to this partnership is so inspiring #WestDayEver,” Kardashian ended her tweet.
West worked at the GAP in Chicago when he was a teenager. There was an article he wrote for Paper magazine back in 2015 where he revealed that he got interested in clothing while working at said store, Business Insider reported.
West, in the same year, also told Vanity Fair magazine that he wanted to be a creative director of the GAP, Seattle Times reported.
A Yeezy spokesperson revealed that West and GAP’s collaboration would be a “multiyear partnership,” Bloomberg reported. West’s Yeezy brand for footwear has already partnered with Adidas AG, hence, Yeezy Gap’s focus would be on the clothing line.
The news outlet further reported that GAP’s shares leaped to approximately 42% in New York trading, Friday (June 26), after announcing its partnership with West. It has been reported that the increase was the biggest —thus far— since 1980.
GAP promised to develop and deliver “modern, elevated basics for women and kids at accessible price points” under West’s creative direction, according to the statement released by the company.
The said statement further detailed the famous rapper would maintain sole ownership of the Yeezy brand.
GAP would also maintain sole ownership of the Gap brand, with Yeezy receiving royalties and potential equity to sales.
It has been anticipated that Yeezy Gap products would be released on stores and online in 2021.
