'Kung Fu Panda 3' Concept Art Shows Breathtaking Panda Village
“Kung Fu Panda 3” will see Po (Jack Black) reuniting with his father Li (Bryan Cranston) and meeting their fellow pandas in the new village, which according to the recently released concept art images appears to be a breathtakingly beautiful place.
Entertainment Weekly revealed the picturesque imagery of the panda village. In one of the pictures, Po and Li are gazing at the snow-clad mountains while in others a series of pandas are working in grassland. In another photo, Li is pushing a cart with pandas sitting in it and other pandas can be seen crossing a bridge over the river. One of the most poignant images is of Li watching sunset from the terrace of his house.
According to film’s production designer Raymond Zibach the village has been inspired from Sichuan, China. “We used [Sichuan] as a jumping off point for what you saw at the very end of the second film, and then we kept drawing from that experience. We try to experience this through Po’s eyes, so we want to make it really special for him. The fact that he comes back to other pandas and is going to learn their way of life was kind of magical to him, because he thought none of this ever existed,” he said to EW.
The village will reportedly have magical feel to it and will be shown from Po’s perspective as he will discover the panda village for the first time. Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni are directing “Kung Fu Panda 3” from the screenplay by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. The cast also includes Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Rebel Wilson and J.K. Simmons. It will open Jan. 29, 2016.
