Lady Gaga Gives Black Friday Presents To LGBTQ Youth At Ali Forney Center During Thanksgiving Weekend
After hitting the stores to take advantage of Black Friday deals, Lady Gaga spent her Friday morning on a more meaningful note. The “Million Reasons” paid a visit to Ali Forney Center to give presents to the LGBTQ youth staying at the shelter and spend time with them this Thanksgiving weekend.
Lady Gaga took to Twitter to share to her millions of followers how her visit went. In a snap she uploaded on the social networking platform on Saturday, the “Bad Romance” hitmaker could be seen meditating with the teens at the center. Gaga’s mother, Cynthia Germanotta, is also present in the photo. According to the singer-songwriter, she brought gifts for the LGBTQ youth and led them during a group meditation.
Ali Forney Center is the country’s largest non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, New York that provides shelter and healthcare services to the young members of the LGBTQ community who are homeless. “I’m here today not because I had to excruciatingly pull time out of my schedule to come be here. I’m here because I want to be here,” Lady Gaga was quoted as saying by Just Jared. “And I’m here because I want this to affect other people around the world, and to remind them that when they are kind, it not only makes the other person feel good, but it makes me feel good too.”
Aside from handing them gifts and leading the meditation, Lady Gaga also performed for the teens at the center. One of the people in attendance, named David Liu, took a video of Lady Gaga performing “Million Reasons” while playing the guitar atop a piano. Liu captioned the clip he uploaded on YouTube: “Lady Gaga was extremely loving and caring. She brought us nice gifts at the Ali Forney center a community safe space for young LGBT youth. We were all grateful to have her angelic soul in our presence.”
Prior her visit to the shelter, Lady Gaga and her mom joined the crowds at busy stores to do some Black Friday shopping. Donning a black T-shirt with the “Be Brave” words on the front and “Kindness Is” on the back, Gaga and her mother hit New York stores. As per Daily Mail, the trip to the stores ended up with Gaga’s bodyguard filling the back of their car with loads of shopping bags that were filled with clothes, mostly from Gap. The shopping bags were later on handed out by Taylor Kinney’s ex to the kids at Ali Forney.
Meanwhile, a day earlier — on Thanksgiving day — Madonna also took time to visit Ali Forney Center. The "Vogue" hitmaker also took to social media to share a snap she took with the LGBTQ youth at the shelter.
