Lady Gaga’s “Chromatica” is the biggest female debut album of the year.

The “Poker Face” singer is back at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following the release of her newest album “Chromatica.” Its lead single “Stupid Love” peaked at No. 5 shortly after its release. Meanwhile, the second single “Rain On Me” with pop singer Ariana Grande debuted at No. 1.

“Chromatica” is Lady Gaga’s sixth solo LP on the Billboard 200. It earned 274,000 equivalent album units in the week ending on June 4. The album sales comprised 205,000, 65,000 SEA units (equating to 87.16 million on-demand streams of the set’s tracks in the week ending June 4), and TEA units to a little over 4,000. Nielsen Music/MRC Data considers it the biggest female debut album of 2020, Billboard reported.

BBC News also reported that “Chromatica” is the fastest-selling album since 2013’s “Artpop.” It is also the fastest-selling album of the year.

Lady Gaga’s newest album marks her return to her dance music roots. In an interview with Zane Lowe, she talked about “Chromatica” and healing.

“I think that the beginning of the album really symbolizes, for me, what I would call the beginning of my journey to healing and what I would hope would be an inspiration for people that are in need of healing through happiness, through dance,” she said (via Rolling Stone).

Lady Gaga’s newest work also received positive feedback from the critics. Many agreed that returning to the dance music genre is a great move for the singer.

“Let’s just say that Gaga has doubled down on the answer to that question, returning to the dancefloor that spawned her and emerging with her best album since “Born This Way” — and possibly, song for song, her best yet,” a review from Variety read.

“Dance music will always be her salvation, and her pop renaissance couldn’t come at a better time,” Rolling Stone added.

“Chromatica” was initially set for release on April 10. However, it was delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
