‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 18 Spoilers: When Will Next Episode Air? Donald Trump Episode Pushed Back To 2017

“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” Season 18 might not air its next episode until January 2017.

NBC recently confirmed that “Unstoppable,” which will feature a character inspired by President-Elect Donald Trump, has been pushed back yet again, Entertainment Tonight reported. According to the synopsis released by the network last month, Gary Cole will star in the upcoming episode of “Law & Order: SVU” Season 18 as a politician whose campaign “goes haywire when several women go public with damaging accusations.”

This is not the first time that the episode has been postponed. It was originally scheduled to air on Oct. 12, but the episode came under scrutiny due to the scandals surrounding Trump’s presidential campaign. At the time, NBC revealed they decided to go through with airing the episode “amid the extraordinary atmosphere of at least four women coming forward with stories of groping or sexual assault” against the controversial tycoon-turned-politician.

The network then decided to air it on Oct. 26, but later announced that the episode had been delayed until after the 2016 presidential election on Nov. 8.

“Law & Order: SVU” Season 18, episode 7’s latest air date has been scheduled for Nov. 16 — along with episode 8 — but NBC apparently decided to postpone it once again to accommodate another series. Instead of back-to-back episodes of the Mariska Hargitay-led series, the network will air two “Chicago P.D.” episodes in anticipation of its upcoming crossover arc with “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Fire.”

The shifts in the network’s schedule are a result of NBC choosing to air reruns instead of its normal lineup opposite Game 7 of the World Series last week.

It looks like fans will have to wait a while before they can see Cole in his Trump-esque role. CarterMatt noted that there are no new episodes of “Law & Order: SVU” Season 18 coming up in the next several weeks as Thanksgiving is approaching and NBC will soon air specials. The publication also predicted that “Unstoppable” might air on Jan. 4, 2017 at the latest.
